The Ten Most Basic Knowledge of Car Maintenance
If components such as fuel filters, oil filters, air filters, hydraulic oil filters, and various types of filters are too dirty, it can lead to poor filtration efficiency, excessive impurities entering the oil circuit cylinder, exacerbating the wear of the components and increasing the possibility of malfunctions; If it is severely blocked, it can also cause the vehicle to malfunction.
1. Afraid of being 'dirty'
Dirty components such as radiator fins, air-cooled engine cylinder and head fins, and cooler fins can lead to poor heat dissipation and high temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to clean and maintain these "dirty" parts in a timely manner.
2. Afraid of 'heat'
The engine piston temperature is too high, which can easily cause overheating and melting, leading to cylinder holding; Rubber seals, triangular tapes, tires, etc. are prone to premature aging, performance degradation, and shortened service life due to overheating; The coils of electrical equipment such as starters, generators, and regulators are overheated and easily burned out and scrapped; Vehicle bearings should maintain an appropriate temperature. If overheated, the lubricating oil will quickly deteriorate, ultimately leading to bearing burnout and vehicle damage.
3. Afraid of 'skewing'
The various components in the fuel system of diesel engines, including the master and slave gears in the main reducer of the drive axle, the hydraulic control valve block and valve stem, the valve core and valve sleeve in the fully hydraulic steering gear, etc., are specially processed and ground in pairs during manufacturing, with very precise matching. They are always used in pairs during their service life and cannot be interchanged. Some components that cooperate with each other, such as pistons and cylinder liners, bearing shells and shaft necks, valves and valve seats, connecting rod large end bearing covers and rod bodies, etc., have undergone a period of running in and have relatively good fit. When repairing, attention should also be paid to assembling them in pairs and not to "cross" each other
4. Afraid of 'opposition'
The engine cylinder gasket cannot be installed upside down during installation, otherwise it may cause premature burning and damage to the cylinder gasket; For some special shaped piston rings, they cannot be installed in reverse and should be assembled according to the requirements of different models; When installing the engine fan blades, there are also directional requirements. The fan is generally divided into two types: exhaust and suction, and cannot be reversed, otherwise it will cause poor engine heat dissipation and high temperature; For tires with directional patterns, such as herringbone pattern tires, the ground imprint after installation should point the herringbone tip towards the rear to ensure maximum driving force. For the two tires installed together, different vehicle models have different requirements and cannot be installed arbitrarily.
5 afraid of 'missing'
When repairing vehicles, some small parts may be omitted due to negligence, and some people even believe that whether or not to install them is irrelevant. This is a very dangerous and harmful engine valve lock plate, which should be installed in pairs. If omitted or missing, it will cause the valve to lose control and damage the piston and other parts; Anti loosening devices such as split pins, locking screws, safety plates, or spring washers installed on engine connecting rod bolts, flywheel bolts, and transmission shaft bolts, if not installed, may cause serious malfunctions during use; Once the oil nozzle used to lubricate the gears in the engine timing gear chamber is leaked, it will cause severe oil leakage at that location, resulting in low engine oil pressure; The loss of water tank cover, oil port cover, and fuel tank cover can cause sand, gravel, dust, and other debris to enter, exacerbating the wear and tear of various components.
6. Afraid of "oil"
The paper filter element of the engine dry air filter has strong moisture absorption. If it comes into contact with oil, it is easy for the high concentration mixture to be sucked into the cylinder, resulting in insufficient air volume, increased fuel consumption, and decreased engine power. Diesel engines may also cause "runaway". If the triangular tape comes into contact with oil, it will accelerate its corrosion and aging, and it is easy to slip, leading to a decrease in transmission efficiency; Brake shoes, friction plates of dry clutches, brake belts, etc., if contaminated with oil, are prone to slip and malfunction, posing a threat to driving safety; Oil stains on the carbon brushes of the starter motor and generator can cause a lack of power in the starter motor and a low voltage in the generator due to poor contact. Tire rubber is highly sensitive to oil corrosion, and contact with oil can cause the rubber to soften or peel. Short term contact can lead to abnormal or even severe damage to the tire.
7 afraid of "washing"
Some novice drivers or repairers may think that all parts need to be cleaned, but this understanding is one-sided. When cleaning the paper air filter of the engine, no oil should be used to clean it. Simply tap lightly with your hand or blow high-pressure air from inside the filter to the outside; For leather components, it is not advisable to clean them with oil. Simply wipe them clean with a clean cloth.
8 afraid of "pressure"
If the outer tire is temporarily stored under pressure and not flipped in time, it will deform due to compression, affecting its service life; The paper filter elements of air and fuel filters, if squeezed, will undergo significant deformation and cannot reliably function as filters; Rubber oil seals, triangular tapes, oil pipes, etc. should not be squeezed, otherwise they will also deform and affect normal use.
9 afraid of "near fire"
Rubber products such as tires, V-belts, cylinder liners, water blocking rings, and rubber oil seals are prone to aging, deterioration, or damage if they are close to a fire source, and may also cause fire accidents. Especially for some diesel cars, they are difficult to start in the cold winter, and some drivers often use a blowtorch to heat them up. It is important to prevent burning out the wiring, oil lines, etc.
10 afraid of 'repetition'
Some parts should be used once, but some drivers or repairmen reuse them in order to save or because they do not understand the "taboos", which can easily lead to accidents. Generally speaking, after the assembly of engine connecting rod bolts, nuts, imported diesel engine injector fixing bolts, cylinder liner water blocking rings, sealing copper gaskets, various oil seals and sealing rings of hydraulic systems, as well as important parts such as pins and split pins, new products must be replaced; For engine cylinder gaskets, although no damage was found during maintenance, it is best to replace them with new ones because old ones have poor elasticity, poor sealing, and are prone to erosion and damage. They need to be replaced after a short period of use, which is time-consuming and laborious. Therefore, if there are new ones, it is better to replace them as much as possible.
